Hi Everybody!

Well, these are some beautiful Spring days we've been having, aren't they?
The garden is going good, no pictures for you today of it though. Next time for sure.

I've been kind of busy lately. Please don't think I'm ignoring you. That's just not the case.
Since Mom died I've physically been off the mark. I'm just now trying to get back to were I was. It's only been 6 months though. I still cry for her. Death is so unforgiving. It hurts. I hate the hurt. Anyway... I've been going to some doctor appointments, Neurologist: $30.00 co-pay.
I had a three and a half hour MRI scan (with contrast) that made me sick for a week straight. Very bad headache and nausea. You get the picture. Incredible co-pay for that: $476.56
I had to get Lab work done: $50.00 co-pay. Next Thursday it's back to the Neurologist again for results of everything: another $30.00 co-pay. Co-pay for new medication she will inevitably prescribe: unknown. -I thank the Lord that I have insurance though. (and I do have good insurance if you can believe that!) I'm okay really. One day at a time with the Lord, everything will be fine. I know He's with me through it all. He loves me. I'm His.*

This classified ad appeared in Atlanta newspapers recently:

"Single black female seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good looking girl who loves to play.
I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire.
Candle light dinner will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I'm yours. Call 404-875-6420 and ask for Daisy."
Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week-old Labrador Retriever.*

Recession curbs nation's throwaways

Washington>> Along with the stock market and the foreclosure rate, a less heralded barometer has signaled the arrival of hard times: the landfill.
In a wasteful society that typically puts 254 million tons of unwanted stuff at the curb to be thrown away each year, landfill managers say they knew something was amiss in the economy when they saw trash levels start steadily dropping last year.
Now, some are reporting declines as much as 30 percent.
" The trash man is the first one to know about a recession because we see it first," said Richard S. Weber, manager of the Loudoun County, Va., landfill.
Trash volume has dropped so much, Weber said, that instead of running out of space in 2012, as had been projected, the Loudoun landfill will gain a year and a half or so of use.
"That's huge," he said.
It's all part of the cycle of stuff that people in the trash business say they have seen in every economic downturn since the end of World War II. People don't by stuff, they keep using what they've got; So there's less trash. -One third less trash.*

(Good job everybody!!)

TODAY IS NATIONAL HAMBURGER DAY!
RIGHT SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF NATIONAL HAMBURGER MONTH!
(go figure)

So, in honor of this occasion, I have a recipe for you:

GRILLED HAMBURGERS

Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds 80% lean ground beef
1 teaspoon table salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (or to taste)
4 buns & desired toppings and condiments

Directions:
Prepare the grill. Heat until medium hot.
While grill is heating, break up meat with hands in a medium bowl.
Sprinkle salt and pepper over meat and mix lightly with hands to distribute seasonings. Divide beef into 4 six-ounce portions.
gently form one portion into a ball and lightly flatten into a patty 3/4 inches thick and 4 1/2 inches in diameter.
Do this to each portion. Grill patties, uncovered, without pressing down on them, until well-seared on first side, about 3 minutes.
Flip burgers with a metal spatula, and continue grilling. (about 3 1/2 minutes more) If making cheeseburgers, add cheese slices to patties immediately after flipping. About a minute before removing burgers, place buns on grill, face open to toast. Serve burgers and buns immediately, with desired condiments and toppings! -ENJOY!*

Today I've been doing some much needed laundry. I have some
clothes hanging out on the line right now. Just a few things.
It feels so nice and warm out there. At this time of the year it's not killer hot yet. Just about perfect.

Lately we've been putting some food out for the birds and squirrels and it's fun to watch them enjoying everything.
I thought I'd give you this bird food recipe:
Melt one cup shortening,(lard or bacon grease can be used also)
Add one cup peanut butter and stir until melted.
To this add one cup plain flour and 3 cups plain cornmeal.
Mix thoroughly.
Add rolled oats, sunflower seeds, raisins or bread crumbs if you have any. The final consistency will be putty-like.
Pour into a disposable 8 inch, by 8 inch aluminum pan and allow to cool.
Slice into quarters; each one should fit nicely into a suet cage, available at most stores. (I've seen them in the grocery stores and dollar stores, garden centers, just everywhere sells them for cheap.)
Store remaining squares in the refrigerator.

Here's one more Bird food idea:
A simple bird feeder can be made out of a large orange cut in half and with the fruit cleaned out. Smear peanut butter on it, and add some wild bird seed mix.
If you put it out in a hanging basket the birds will love it!*

As we move close to the Lord and soak ourselves in Him, we come to the place where He is our reward. Not ministry, not things, not healings, not financial prosperity - but the Lord Himself is our reward! He is our life, our everything.(Oh, how we love You Lord!)*

Blessings to you on this beautiful day!- Missygirl*
