Good Morning Everyone!...Well, it's morning where I am, if it's not morning where you are, my warmest 'Hello' to you, too!

In my last post I forgot to mention a very important issue about the Barack Obama campaign.

When Obama said he was going to give tax cuts to 95% of Americans, the people that are not included are those who have income between 20,000 and 50,000 a year.

(That pretty much includes most everyone I know. )

You needed to know that, as I know a lot of people want to vote for him for those tax cuts.

-When things seem so out of control, I'm absolutely glad that God is in control.*

This whole upcoming election has me concerned for our nation's prosperity. I thinking we're swinging off in the wrong direction. Please look at what I'm showing you today. I just feel I need to sound the alarm and send a wake up call. Although some might not have my same views, I feel the need to share my biblical views on the matter.
After studying this is what I have to show you:

I'm going to look at the difference between Barack Obama and John McCain.

Questions (Measures):

1) Defense of marriage (limiting marriage nationwide to a man and woman)
Obama: Oppose
McCain: Support

2) Human Cloning (public funding of research using human embryos)
Obama: Support
McCain: Oppose

3)Constructionist Judges (Judges who interpret the constitution, as handed down by our founding fathers, this includes our Bill of Rights as a Legal document to be upheld and unchanged. An enduring document. Not to be changed as the times change.)
Obama: Oppose
McCain: Support

4) Homosexual Education
Obama: Support
McCain: Oppose
(Senator Barack Obama spoke to voters at Granby High School in Norfolk, VA saying he favors Comprehensive (all inclusive) sex education for Kindergarten Students)

5) Drilling for oil (drilling in the U.S.) -We need oil to make gasoline-
Obama: Oppose
McCain: Support

6) Pro-Life Legislation (legislation to protect the life of the unborn child from the moment of conception)
Obama: Oppose
McCain: Support

7) Firearms Regulations gun laws (additional regulations for firearms and/or firearm sales)
Obama: Support
McCain: Oppose

8) Marriage Amendments (reform "no-fault" divorce laws to require mutual consent of both parties unless proof of abuse or fault.
Obama: Oppose
McCain: Support

9) School Choice (this initiative would force the government to give tuition tax credits or vouchers to parents who would like to have their children in a private school vs. a public school depending on the parents choice.)
Obama: Oppose
McCain: Support

ABC News' Matthew Jaffe reports: Senator Joe Biden (D-Del.), on Sunday, guaranteed that if elected, Senator Barack Obama will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular decisions. "Mark my words" the democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests "Barack Obama" like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47 year old Senator President of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."*

Good morning everybody! -Fall is really here in all it's glory! If there were any doubts before, I don't have any now. I don't know about any kind of Indian summer here. It's just cold. Right now it's 40 degrees. Yesterday it was windy and now the driveway is just full of leaves. Those are the ones from my neighbor's tree. That tree overhangs our driveway. My little dog is such a scaredy cat. He got nervous when the leaves started falling real good yesterday and wanted to go back in the house right away. I watered out back yesterday and turned the sprinklers on in the front yard. My husband said he'll do the sprinkler system blow out on Sunday so Ive been watering an extra bit more this week, I'm trying to give the grass it's 'last hurrah' this year.

It's time to winterize the house too. We have to empty the water out of the swamp cooler and cover it real good and it's time to change the furnace filter. The firewood needs to be cut and stacked too; and We've got to make sure the vehicles are good on antifreeze. I need to cover the lawn chairs with plastic tarps. I think that's about it. It may seem like I'm doing this stuff kind of early, but not really. Right about halloween day is when we get the first good snow and today

is October 17th, so it's coming just around the corner.

The new pictures we had taken turned out really nice and I want to get them up here for you but I need to scan them into the computer and I haven't done that yet, but I will. (I promise!)

I haven't been reading much lately. (I'm being a slacker, I know.) I am reading 1 good book, I read a chapter each night before I go to bed. It's a devotional, from the authors that brought us the 'Left Behind' series. It's called 'Perhaps Today' by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins.

It talks about end time events. (the last days goings on) -It's very insightful. I recommend it.*

The ruins of Pompeii, in Italy, which was covered with ashes from the eruptions of Mount Vesuvius, began to be dug up in 1748. Before the digging had gone on very long, the workers found a skeleton stretched forth at full length, with gold and silver coins that had rolled out of bony hands, still seeking, it seemed, to clutch them fast. Strange, in the very act of death, still grasping the coins! But he "couldn't take them with him."

That is a fair picture of a tragic truth, that the endeavor to clutch coins has spoiled life for many people. For what shall it profit to clutch all the coins ever minted, if in the lust for gain, we lose our own life?

Give us, O God, the open hand of generous giving.

Save us from hands grasping for greed. Amen.*

The Jewish holy day SUKKOT began at sundown on October 13th

When Christmas displays go up before Halloween displays come down,

I long for the days when people didn't think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. However, there may be a legitimate reason to celebrate Christmas in October.

No one knows the exact day when Jesus was born, but December 25th is unlikely. His birth may have been in Autumn, when the weather was still warm enough for shepherds to be outdoors with their flocks. We know that Jesus was crucified on Passover, and that the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost. So some scholars have reasoned that Jesus' birth may have occurred on another Jewish holiday too; The feast of tabernacles, or Sukkot.

Although we cannot know for sure, we do know that it would be in keeping with God's way of working to send His Son-the Word made flesh who "dwelt" ("tabernacled") among us (John 1:14)-on the Feast of Tabernacles. Sukkot was a time when observant Jews lived in temporary dwellings and listened to the Word of the Lord being read (Deuteronomy 31:10-13).

For Jews, Sukkot is "the time of our rejoicing." For all of us, our time of rejoicing is the birth of Christ, who brings the joy of salvation to all the world. -Julie Ackerman Link

OCTOBER IS NATIONAL PORK MONTH!

In honor of this festive occasion, I have a recipe for you:
Roast Pork Shoulder Caribbean-Style
Ingredients:
4-5 lb. bone-in pork shoulder
1 clove of garlic, peeled
2 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tsp. black pepper corns
1 tsp lard or oil
grated zest and juice of 1 lemon
1 medium onion, thickly sliced
2 Tbsp. oregano
2 tsp. salt
2 bay leaves
Grated zest and juice of 1 orange
juice of 1 bitter orange
Directions:
Make several shallow cuts (about 1/2 inch deep) in the pork.
Spread the onion slices on the bottom of a glass or ceramic roasting pan.
Blend the rest of the ingredients to a paste.
Rub the pork with the mixture on all sides, making sure it goes into the cuts.
Place pork on top of the onions.
Cover with foil and refrigerate for about 4 hours, turning once, leaving fat side up for cooking.
Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees F.
Remove foil and set aside.
Place pork on middle rack of oven.
Cook for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, turn down oven temperature to 325 degrees F.
Re-cover pan with foil.
Cook an additional 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes with it's own juice.
Cook until the internal temperature (measured with a meat thermometer) is at a safe 170 or 180 degrees F.
Remove pork from oven and allow 15 minutes before carving.
Discard onions. Enjoy!-Missygirl*

The American Library Association has designated this week as Banned Books Week in celebration of the freedom to read and to express one's opinion "even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular."
The Bible is the all-time bestselling book, but in some parts of the world it is banned because it is considered dangerous. The Bible is dangerous, however, only to those who fear finding out that they are wrong. It's dangerous to those who exploit the weak and the innocent, who use force to keep others enslaved in poverty and ignorance, who don't want to give up their favorite sin, who believe that salvation can be found apart from Christ.
No one wants to be told that they are wrong. No one wants to hear that their behavior is putting themselves and those they love in danger or that God's patience will eventually wear out. Yet, that was the message God told Jeremiah to write (Jeremiah 36:2). When his message was read to king Jehoiakim, the king cut up the scroll and threw it into the fire (v.23).
The only way to know we are right is to be willing to discover where we are wrong. Read the all-time bestselling banned book, and let it reveal to you the truth about God.....and about yourself.

OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH!

For yourself, for your loved ones, GET A MAMMOGRAM done!
Women 40 years old and older need a yearly mammogram.
If you can't remember the last time you had a mammogram, you may be overdue.
Sure it's a drag to have to make an appointment and go do it, sure it's uncomfortable.... but when it's all said and done, good or bad results, you'll be so glad you did. You'll know where you stand. Tell your friends. This is important in your life. This is big.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI), estimates that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some time in their lives. But the good news is that mammograms--X-ray pictures of the breast--can detect breast cancer early, when it's most treatable.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a mammogram can show a lump in the breast an average of one to three years earlier than a woman can feel it.

Mammograms are our best tool for early detection.
In short, a mammogram can save your life.*

WHERE CAN I GET A MAMMOGRAM?

Be sure to get a mammogram from a facility certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These places must meet high standards for their x-ray machines and staff.
Check out the FDA's web site on the Internet at:

http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/mammography/certified.html

for a list of FDA-certified mammography facilities.
Some of these facilities also offer digital mammograms.

Your health care provider, local medical clinic, or local or state health department can tell you were to get no-cost or low-cost mammograms. Also, call the National Cancer Institute's toll free number 1-800-422-6237 for information on no-cost or low-cost mammograms.*

Take time to be good to yourself. Take time for a mammogram.
My best to you. Blessings!-Missygirl*
