Hi Everyone! - Only 2 days left until Christmas! Wow! Did this come around quick or what?
I love Christmas, I really do, yet it's a very lonely time for me. My kids are grown & gone, with children of their own. I really miss them alot. I think no one can understand 'the empty nest' feeling until it happens to them. I know in my mind how much they love me (and their spouses love me too, I know) They would never want me to feel bad or lonely, ever, yet they would want me to understand that they are just living. Doing exactly what I taught them to do. That's what my mind knows. What my heart tries to tell me is, "those are your babies!" One day my mind and heart will Jive together. It takes time. (It's called growing up, I guess.) I think everyone could use a little bit of that at times. I also think everyone has different areas in their life that are hard for them. Well, enough of my bitterness! I really do apologize. Don't get me wrong, Christmas is wonderful and I really am enjoying it! I finally did get the shopping done, cards sent, holiday baking done. Okay, I have some cookie dough in the fridge that needs to be popped in the oven, but I'm working it! I think I've told you guys that I live in Denver, Colorado. If you've been watching the news, you've heard about our 'Blizzard of 2006'!
I have pictures of it for you. Now that I think about it, that totally makes sense now why I'm feeling a bit depressed: CABIN FEVER!!! I have not been out of the house since the day before, day before, yesterday. ( Since the evening of the 19th.) I'm not used to that. But when you see the pictures, you'll see that I couldn't even get out of my house! My husband was working the whole time doing snow plowing. His boss came for him on the 20th (Our 4x4 is getting repaired and if you didn't have four wheel drive, you couldn't go anywhere) and his boss told me I probably wouldn't see him again for about 30hrs. It was true . He called me periodically to check in and let me know he was fine. I'm glad. It was terrible out there! The airport (DIA) was closed with 4,700 people stranded inside! 2,000 canceled flights! The Governor declared Colorado a national emergency and called in the National Guard to help get stranded people off the highways. The Red Cross set up shelters for the people who couldn't get home. - Well, my husband finally came back home last night and did snow removal down our whole block. (The city had said that their trucks where in use clearing the highways, freeways, and main streets, they wouldn't be able to do the side streets for a couple of days still.) I think the neighbors are so glad for the snow removal in front of their houses because now they can move around, go to work, whatever they need to do, at least now they can get to the main road! My husband has such a good heart. He did the snow removal on our block after he had just came off of working all those hours straight. But He wasn't done at that point. He had to shovel snow for about a half hour just to reach our front door! Well, he slept about 6 hours and now he's back at work. Snow removal again! I do thank The Lord God for all the people running the snow plows and doing snow removal. I think they were all pushing themselves, going without sleep, and not being able to eat regularly or even use the restroom regularly. Thank You, Lord, Please bless each and every one.* I Want you to have a Wonderful day! From our house to yours- love and best wishes flow! Take care -Missygirl*
