What a beautiful day! -Hello everyone.

Springtime. The changes I see outside everyday are just amazing. You know, autumn used to be my favorite time of year. When leaves would be changing colors, just beautiful, different colors. It seemed like everything was settling down to rest. It's not my favorite season anymore. Don't get me wrong, the fall is great, with the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays that come right on the tail of it. Yes, those are super, but now, I'm different, and I'll take the spring season. With the plants and trees coming alive and showing their buds and greenery! Wonderful greenery. My backyard starts feeling like a super garden with all my favorite types of plants and flowers, bushes and trees, all my favorites. I get to see their new growth and their changes every year, they seem like friends. My rhubarb has just started coming up. The seeds have been planted and although it looks like plain dirt now, it won't be that way for long, my husband assures me of this. We have just about every good thing we could think of planted. We'll have corn, cucumbers, jalapeno, tomato, onion, zucchini, watermelon, green beans, I can't even remember all the different things that are planted! I took some pictures of the dirt with the seeds underground, just to remember the start. and I want to take pictures along the way to 'keep you in the know' on how the garden is going. -On top of a (low to the ground) pile of firewood on the side of the house, there is a folded up piece of fabric that my husband uses sometimes when he's doing any mechanic work outside, and on that cloth last night, my husband saw an animal lying on it! Now, the dogs every morning run over to exactly that spot and sniff around for awhile. We figured a cat maybe, we were hoping it wasn't some skunk that felt welcome, we just really didn't know what animal it was. Curiously though, I noticed our bigger dog, the miniature German Shepherd, would get nervous as she smelled there, her back legs would tremble a bit and she's a brave dog , so that made me really wonder all the more. Well, mystery solved. The animal was a little fox! My husband said that as she saw him, she took off running. I'm pretty sure she'll be back as it's a safe place and the carport is covering the area. -Tonight the weather is forecast for 4-8 inches of snow. I asked my husband about the garden, and the seeds that where just planted, he said don't worry. They're safe underground. I'm glad.*

THE OYSTER MAN
In the days of John Wesley, lay preachers with limited education would sometimes conduct the church services. One man used Luke 19:21 as his text: " Lord, I feared Thee, because Thou art an austere man" (KJV). Not knowing the word austere, he thought the text spoke of "an oyster man." -He explained how a diver must grope in dark, freezing water to retrieve oysters. In his attempt, he cuts his hands on the sharp edges of the shells. After he obtains an oyster, he rises to the surface, clutching it "in his torn and bleeding hands." The preacher added, " Christ descended from the glory of heaven into ...sinful human society, in order to retrieve humans and bring them back up with Him to the glory of heaven. His torn and bleeding hands are a sign of the value He has placed on the object of His quest." -Afterward, 12 men received Christ. Later that night someone came to Wesley to complain about unschooled preachers who were too ignorant even to know the meaning of the texts they were preaching on. The Oxford-educated Wesley simply said, "Never mind. The Lord got a dozen oysters tonight."
Our best may not always measure up to the standards of others. But God takes our inadequacies and humble efforts and uses them for His glory. -(author: Cindy Hess Casper)
