ALERT: US House Vote on Bipartisan Resolution Reaffirming National Motto, 'In God We Trust'

"As our nation faces challenging times, it is appropriate for Members of Congress and our nation—like our predecessors—to firmly declare our trust in God, believing that it will sustain us for generations to come." –Rep. Randy Forbes

(Washington, DC)—Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04), Co-Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, announced today that the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 on, a resolution sponsored by Forbes to reaffirm 'In God We Trust' as the United States' national motto and to encourage its display in public buildings and government institutions.

National Motto"In 2006, on the 50th anniversary of its adoption, the Senate reaffirmed 'In God We Trust' as the official national motto of the United States. Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will have the same opportunity to reaffirm our national motto and directly confront a disturbing trend of inaccuracies and omissions, misunderstandings of church and state, rogue court challenges, and efforts to remove God from the public domain by unelected bureaucrats. As our nation faces challenging times, it is appropriate for Members of Congress and our nation—like our predecessors—to firmly declare our trust in God, believing that it will sustain us for generations to come," said Forbes.

In January 2011, Congressman Forbes introduced H. Con. Res. 13 to reaffirm 'In God We Trust' as our national motto; the resolution has 64 bipartisan cosponsors and was reported favorably out of the House Judiciary Committee in March 2011. 'In God We Trust' has been our nation's motto for over five decades. It is part of our national anthem and alluded to in our Pledge of Allegiance. It is written on our coins and our currency and is engraved in both the House and the Senate chambers, as well as in numerous public building across our nation.

Why Reaffirm 'In God We Trust'?

President Obama inaccurately proclaimed "E Pluribus Unum' as our national motto. Last November before a worldwide audience, in a much-anticipated and much-publicized speech focusing on the United States' relationship with the Muslim world, President Obama falsely proclaimed that our national motto was E pluribus unum. The President failed to respond to congressional entreaties to issue a correction; the uncorrected transcript remains on the White House website. Read more by CLICKING HERE.

Bible Quotes Allowed in Egyptian Newspaper Ads for First Time in History

"One prominent political figure, the editor of a major newspaper, called to say that he is grateful for all that we are doing to promote peace and unity in these difficult days." -Ramez Atallah

(Egypt)—Inspire Magazine U.K. reports that for the first time, front-page advertisements by the Egyptian Bible Society in eight Egyptian national newspapers are being allowed to quote the Bible.

Egyptian Bible Verse adNotes the report: "The adverts, part of the Society's campaign called Rebuild Egypt, quote the prophet Jeremiah's call to "seek the peace of the city…and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace" (Jer. 29:7)

Apparently the change is in response to the recent persecution and deaths of Coptic Christians in an October 9th incident.

Said Bible Society of Egypt General Secretary Ramez Atallah, "This is the first time we have been allowed to quote a Bible verse in any of our public advertising. Many people from all religious backgrounds have called the Bible Society to thank us for the timely message and positive role."

Bringing Biblical Principles and the Gospel to the Occupy Wall Street Crowd

"Some of the teachings of Jesus Christ are being taken out of context by the protesters. …The first century Christians gave from their heart, not because they were forced by the government."

The Occupy Wall Street protesters were joined recently by the Christian evangelistic group, Go Stand Speak, which came armed with Bibles and street preachers adept at communicating to the large crowd.

While many of the protesters may not like it; this really is a wonderful opportunity for Christians to bring the Word to hundreds of people in one place, as the "occupiers" have made themselves a captive audience.

Go Stand SpeakPat Necerato, Overseer of Go Stand Speak Ministries, explained, "The ideas and solutions of the Occupy Wall Street movement have consequences. Unless they become Biblical solutions, this movement will come to naught, regardless of how much attention it gets. More entitlements, taking from the rich and giving to the poor, bigger government and other socialist concepts, are not Biblical solutions. God's standards must be the foundation for all solutions if they are to succeed."

While some who heard the message from Go Stand Speak members were less than receptive—a few physically hostile; many reportedly seemed to be open and interested.

Necerato noted that some protesters have incorporated Scripture into their declared stand; however, it is a pick-and-choose-to-make-your-point kind of application.

"Some of the teachings of Jesus Christ are being taken out of context by the protesters," he explained. "For instance, 'Jesus told us to help the poor' and the communal aspect of the first century Christians (Acts chapter 2) are often used by the protesters as support for the communistic/socialist tendencies of the movement. Jesus and the Apostles were speaking about personal dealings among individuals, not governmental mandated or controlled wealth/property redistribution. The first century Christians gave from their heart, not because they were forced by the government."

Necerato added that, "Much of the problems we have are 'symptoms' of a deeper problem—we have turned from God as a whole in this nation. In the Bible, when abortion, homosexual marriage, fiscal dishonesty and other related sins become prevalent in a nation, God lifts His blessing. As a result, you get the problems we see in our country. It starts with the individual-from the bottom up; not from the top down with the government."

The group intends to continue preaching their message of Biblical principles to the "Occupy" crowd as long as they remain. For information about joining up with Go Stand Speak Ministries, log onto: www.gostandspeak.com

Church Signs with Clever Sayings…Do They Make a Difference?

The answer is a resounding "Yes!"

(Gadsden, Alabama)—We've all seen message signs outside of churches, probably taking mental notes of them, or even being impacted in some way by them as Christians. But have you ever wondered if they are effective at touching people's lives in general?

According to a report in the Gadsden Times, they most certainly do.

Church SignsRay Cox of Rainbow Church of Christ posted a variety of testimonies about responses to their signs. For example, one woman said that a sign posted outside the church simply saying "HANG IN THERE!" prevented her from committing suicide on the day she saw it.

David S. Murdock, an English instructor at Gadsden State has written that "For every church with a sign, there's someone who puts those signs up. To those of you who have taken on this unique ministry for your church, I say thank you. There are days…when it might not seem worth the trouble, but it is. Someone else is reading the sign and appreciating its message."
