Missygirl's house & looking up into the tree.
(I have a new camera I'm enjoying!
-I Praise The Lord for it!) *
July 31, 1976 - Intense rain from a thunderstorm in northeastern Colorado created a flash flood that took more than 150 lives.*

ST. SWITHIN, English ecclesiastic and bishop of Winchester, died in 862.
His final wish was to be buried outdoors. According to legend,
when his remains were moved to an indoor shrine years later- on July 15-
40 days of rain ensued.*
************************
IF IT DOES RAIN TODAY...
Wash the insides of your windows. You'll have less trouble with streaks on rainy days, since the hot sun won't dry the window solution before you have a chance t wipe it off.*
**********************************
A HIGH -SCHOOL STUDENT CAME HOME ONE NIGHT RATHER DEPRESSED. "What's the matter, son?" asked his mother. "Aw, geez." said the boy, "It's my grades. They're all wet." "What do you mean 'all wet'?" "You know," he replied, "below C-level."*
***************************
Two young boys are talking. The first one asks, "can people predict the future with cards?"
The second one responds, "my mother can."
"Really?"
"Yes. She takes one look at my report card and tells me what will happen when my father gets home!"*
***********************************************************
Little Johnny's new baby brother was screaming up a storm.
He asked his mom, "Where'd we get Him?"
His mother replied, "He came from Heaven, Johnny."
Johnny says, "WOW! I can see why they threw him out!"*

Hi Everyone! ...On May 24th, I posted a link to a website regarding a missing woman named Lisa Stebic. She hasn't been found yet. On IRN news on the internet, I read an article about the case:
Police name "person of interest" in Stebic disappearance
By: Greg Moore / Source: FoxNews.com
July 13, 2007 6:40pm EST
PLAINFIELD, Ill. -The estranged husband of a suburban Chicago woman missing for more than two months was named a "person of interest" Thursday by police investigating her disappearance. Police had previously been reluctant to name Craig Stebic as the subject of their investigation. He was the last person to report seeing Lisa Stebic on the evening of April 30; her credit cards and cell phone have not been used since. Plainfield Police Chief Donald Bennett said at a news conference that authorities fear that Lisa Stebic has been a victim of foul play. Police have narrowed the focus of their investigation and "now consider Craig Stebic to be a person of interest in the case," Bennett said. The couple were going through a divorce, but they still lived together with their two children in the family's home in Plainfield, about 35 miles southwest of Chicago. Bennett said that Stebic has twice refused requests by police and the Will county state's attorney's office to let investigators talk to his children about their mother's disappearance.*
**********************************************************
Today, July 30th , 2007, is the 3 month anniversary of Lisa's disappearance.
Please pray for her. ~May God be with you, dear Lisa.
Goodnight everyone, -Missygirl*

Apollo 11 landed on the surface of the moon, July 20, 1969; Sunday.
Most of us are familiar with Armstrong's historic statement as he stepped onto the moon's surface:
"That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind." But few know about the first meal eaten there. Buzz Aldrin had brought aboard the spacecraft a tiny communion kit provided by his church. Aldrin set a radio broadcast to earth asking listeners to contemplate the events of that day and to give thanks. Then, in radio blackout for privacy, Aldrin poured wine into a silver chalice. He read, "I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit."
(John 15:5) by Dennis Fisher* When I read that this morning I thought of how the Lord is with us at ALL times. What a wonderful God we have that He cares so much for us. I hope that story blessed you as much as it did me. I praise Him. Blessings! -Missygirl*

Good morning Everyone! It's been a while since I've written, let me explain what's been going on...
My daughter and 2 of my grandchildren came for vacation with us for about the last 3 weeks and some. It was very good to see them but I didn't have any spare moments to write.
I'm so sorry!
I thought that at least I could upload some pictures for you of the things going on in the yard, the pretty roses and the herbs I have growing out there, plus I wanted you to see the way the new trees are really taking root and taking off! Just different things I wanted to show you....but, my camera's broken! I couldn't take pictures of anything. Not even the family. I had to use disposable cameras for the 2 weddings I went to, but I did get 1 picture of the grandkids on a disposable. That was good. ~I need to get a new camera. That should be in about 2-3 weeks. The Lord willing of course. For the meantime, the pictures I can share with you might be from last year, but I'll try to choose some you haven't seen before.*

Harvesting flowers and herbs:
# Gather flowers early in the morning, when the plants are less stressed by heat. (and it seems the bees are still asleep) Use sharp scissors, because dull blades destroy the water-carrying cells. Get the flowers into a bucket of luke warm water immediately.
# Cut herbs while the dew is still on them (if possible), on the morning of what promises to be a hot day. Herbs that have not yet flowered will be richest in essential oils.
# To dry herbs, strip the leaves from the stems and spread the leaves on wire mesh trays in the shade. Stir them once a day for 4 days, then pack in airtight containers.
# To have fresh herb flavor available for soups and sauces all year long, rinse fresh herbs, then puree them in a blender or food processor with a little water or broth. Freeze in ice cube trays, then store the cubes in labeled plastic bags.*

I'm thinking about doing some canning next year. I don't think it would be too hard to do. I think it would be fun. Back in the day, ladies would make it a habit every year to put up canned goods for winter. To be able to take the best of the best flavors of the season and bring them back out again, in a different season, when those ingredients aren't that easy to come by anymore for awhile. (sure we can buy cans of different things today, but anyway, how 100% sure are we of what we're getting? Seems every time we turn around, something is being recalled. At least we would know exactly what we're serving.) Canning really is a time honored tradition. I feel like doing it for something good that I could teach myself and all my girls.*

The invention of Post-it Notes:
Everyone knows what Post-it Notes are: They are those great little self-stick note papers. Most people have Post-it Notes. Most people use them. Most people love them.
But Post-it Notes were not a planned product. No one got the idea and then stayed up nights to invent it. A man named Spencer Silver was working at the 3M research laboratories in 1970 trying to find a strong adhesive. Silver developed a new adhesive, but it was even weaker than what 3M had already manufactured. It stuck to objects but could easily be lifted off. It was super weak instead of super strong. No one knew what to do with the stuff , but Silver didn't discard it. Then one church service, four years later, another 3M scientist named Arthur Fry was singing in the church's choir. He used bookmarks to keep his place in the hymnal, but they kept falling out of the book. Remembering Silver's adhesive, Fry used some to coat those markers. Success! With the weak adhesive, the bookmarks stayed in place, yet lifted off without damaging the pages. 3M began distributing Post-it Notes nationwide in 1980- 10 years after Silver developed the super weak adhesive. Today they are one of the most popular office products available.*

Tomorrow is Independence Day! I was considering this morning...how really fortunate we are. I was thinking about the heat outside and how in our homes and in our cars even, we can get relief. I was thinking about the poor people in Africa, or in Ethiopia, or other places, where the people live outside, they've never known living inside, they live out in the heat and dirt with their whole families. They don't know what it's like to open a refrigerator and take out food when they're hungry. They don't know how cold an ice cube in your mouth is. They don't know how good it feels to lie down on a bed with clean sheets and blankets and a fluffy pillow with a fresh pillowcase. They don't know what it's like to put on a new pair of shoes, or a new shirt. They don't know how it feels at all. We do. We're SO fortunate. I just wanted to mention that today. For whatever it's worth to ya. (the dirty dishes don't seem so bad after all)
I noticed that OHIO has this law still on the books today in case you might be interested.
You might want to keep this in mind.... I don't know.....
PARTICIPATING OR CONDUCTING A DUEL IS PROHIBITED. (dang. Party poopers.)
Also, I want to mention... The Ohio Driver's Education manual states that you must honk the horn whenever you pass another car.*
HAVE A SAFE FOURTH OF JULY!!! AND A FUN ONE TOO!
Blessings! -Missygirl*

thereby good shall come unto thee."
