This morning I read this and I thought it was just too bad. A real loss to a lot of families: FOR A QUARTER OF A CENTURY, the COMPA Food Bank Ministry has delivered Thanksgiving dinners to more than 10,000 needy Colorado families. Not this year.
The food boxes were filled with stuffing, cranberry sauce, and other traditional fixings plus a certificate for a turkey at a local grocery store.
COMPA doesn't just provide Thanksgiving meals, they provide meals year-round.
They(and their agencies)feed 49,000 people a week, and while the Thanksgiving food baskets are very important, it was just one meal for one specific time of year and the year-round need was the bigger picture they needed to address. COMPA is the state's largest Faith-based food bank. Food donations are way down in Colorado this year, clipped by the volume of aid provided to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Food donations so far this year are off by 170 tons. So much food(and funds) went out of state, and left Colorado funds so much lower than before that they don't feel they ever recovered from the export of food and donations caused by that disaster.*
Well, guys. Things have to get better. Things will look up. They're so low, where else can they go but up? The thing is, I'm sure it's the same for every state. Everybody all over are having terribly hard times, every day. I guess it's just the way of the world right now. But PRAY. God will help. He loves His people, yet we need to ask Him for that help. If we ignore Him, and don't even want to acknowledge Him, then He won't bother us, He will leave us be. Tell Him how much you love Him. Tell Him you're Thankful for all He does. But PRAY. Pray without ceasing. In everything, acknowledge Him. He will make your paths straight.*
What's true of biology is also true of Faith:
If it isn't growing
it's probably dead.
Let your roots grow down into Him and draw up nourishment from Him. See that you go on growing in The Lord. (Col. 2:7 TLB)
Have a great day! -Missygirl

WOW FRIENDS,IT'S COLD!!! Right now, 23 Degrees.
You can really tell that winter is setting in.
54 Days until Christmas!
Yesterday in the mail, arrived 10 little Colorado Blue Spruce Trees from The National Arbor Day Foundation. I hope those little babies will like the cold weather. I don't have any thing else to offer them & they have to be put in the ground right away. All we can do is try. If you want to check out The Foundation you can go to: arborday.org

Hello Friends! I wanted to share the following with you today:
The Bible will keep us away from sin
~OR~
Sin will keep us away from the Bible
The Bible is a mirror that lets us see ourselves as God sees us.
A gem cannot be polished without friction,
Nor can we be perfected without trial.
We all need salvation ,
whether we're nice or not.
I do not ask for mighty words
To leave them all impressed,
But grant my life may ring so true
My family will be blessed.
*I celebrate today, with joy and thanksgiving to God,
the birth of my 6th grandchild.*
Have a blessed day. -Missygirl

Hello Friends!
Today I would like to discuss a bit about the upcoming November Voting. Oh fun. Oh hurray. I'm pretty sure that's what you're thinking. Well, me too. Something needs to be said and then we'll leave it at that. It seems as if it's not about issues, just Democrats vs. Republicans. Last week one party is favored over the other, this week the other party is in the lead, next week who knows? It's a war of who can throw a stinger that will outbeat the other party in reviews.
It seems as if nothing is held back and hate is rampant. Give me a break!....
Everyone is having a hard time with the things that are going on in the world. No one is exempt. I believe that in order for us to make the appropriate changes we have to look individually at each candidate and see what that person is about. We need to look at what that person has done in the past, their promises for the future, their goals. We have to ask if that person represents our values and would be a good representative of ourselves. I truly don't believe that good results will happen if it's 100 percent Republican or 100 percent Democrat.
I believe there needs to be a mixture in order that all of our views will be represented.
We have to do some studying on the opponents. Hear their views, and make our choices. Each of us has the freedom to vote our own choice. Don't vote for somebody because that's the person your mom & grandma are voting for, and they told you to. Don't vote for somebody because that's The Party that your family has voted for, for the last 6 generations. This is your time, your vote. Totally private. No one will know what you vote unless you tell them. I won't sit here and tell you who to vote for. All I'm saying is YOUR VOTE COUNTS! Once it's all done, it's done, and so are my (self-proclaimed) words of wisdom on the subject.*
A high school senior honored as one of the "Best & Brightest" in his community has provided a forceful demonstration of integrity. When his school team was given the word 'auditorium' in a regional spelling bee, Brady Davis glanced down to ponder his response and noticed that the word was printed on the microphone stand. He called this to the attention of the judges who responded with a more difficult word. Brady did what he knew was right whether others noticed it or not. We don't know when our actions might become an example to others, but if we live each day to honor Jesus, our behavior will model His righteousness, no matter who is watching. Brady Davis says his goal in life is to change the world around him while never compromising himself. We would do well to join him in that pursuit of life, integrity, and exemplary behavior.*
There's 61 Days until Christmas.* I want you all to remember how much I care and I'll be back again with more very soon! Be good to yourselves. -Missygirl

This is what I woke up to This Morning!
Isn't it Beautiful?
This is One of My Favorite Things About Colorado!
And It All Happened While I Slept!
I hope you like these pictures. My husband told me (while I was still in bed this morning) that we got snow. About 4 inches. I jumped up, grabbed my camera & headed out the front door
just for you!
I have something else for you today. It's just something for you to read and think about.
I like it & I hope you enjoy it too:
*God uses broken things. It takes broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to produce rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength. Although something may look broken and worthless, It's always worth taking a second look. We might just see something others have missed. As far as value and worth, there might be a happy ending after all. Things aren't always what they seem.*
I think today we really need to go get groceries. We've been putting it off, but you know it would have been hard for me, I just wasn't feeling up to it. There's just no excuse anymore. This is going to be a good thing though, I'll be able to pick up a few items to test out new recipes for you guys. Also I have to scrub out the bathroom today. I'm not looking forward to that!
I still have to do it. I've been putting that off too. Today is the day, it looks like, that we'll put more books for sale on e-Bay. (Remember: mrbrownsbooks) If you're interested.
I want you to have a glorious day today! Do some fun things that will give you neat memories for tomorrow. Sometimes we think that life passes by too fast. I've given this some thought and I truly think that life passes by at the right speed, we just don't make enough memories everyday to look back on. If we don't have anything good to look back at and remember... then it kind of just seems like that time was a waste. That it just happened fast and then was over.
I don't want my life to be like that. I want my life to be something I can look back on and in my heart feel good about. I want to always be able to know I did my best for my God first, then my family, for others, & for myself. Am I rambling? I'm sorry. I'll let you go have your day and I'll work on getting all my stuff done too! Your friend-Missygirl
Oh, I almost forgot....64 days until Christmas!

Hi Again! I wanted to talk to you all a little bit more. Now I have a chance.
There are times in our lives when we feel that we are very far away from our Lord Jesus; And We're hurting. We have to get back on the narrow road and it will lead us back home to Him again. I felt The Holy Comforter (Holy Spirit) telling me to give those words to you today. I don't know who they're meant for. I just felt Him compelling me to put them out there.
I started thinking that I have absolutely no idea if anyone ever reads this blog. I hope you do. I want to share things with you that will lift up your day and your life. You are my friends. I bet you get tired of hearing about my illness. I'm so sorry. It's just a part of me and I can't get away from it. I do want to continue with this blog as often as I'm able. I hope you don't get bored with it. These days it seems that so many people gravitate towards things that are sexual or perverse. You guys know that just isn't me. Well, I really do hope that I'm reaching some that find the scribblings of my heart entertaining or at least useful! Have a wonderful evening. -Missygirl
Goodmorning Friends! I'm feeling tons better today PRAISE JESUS!
I wanted to give you a recipe today and I found a real good one. You should like this one. I searched high and low for the best Banana Bread recipe I could find & this is it:
*NEVER-FAIL BANANA BREAD*
1 Cup Sugar, 1/4 Cup Butter (melted), 2 Eggs, 4 Bananas (mashed), 2 Cups Flour,
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda, 1/2 Cup Walnuts (optional) .
Combine sugar, butter and eggs until well beaten. Add bananas and beat again. Add flour, baking soda, and walnuts, if desired. Mix well. Pour into greased bread pan. Bake at 350 degrees
for 50 to 60 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Best if bananas are very ripe. This can be made with 2 to 4 bananas and it still works well. *

Well Hello Again, it's me Missygirl. Sorry I've been away, Been sick again. It looks like that will probably be how our relationship is. It can't be helped. That's all I have to give. Some days I'm good, Somedays just not. Good news though, I did get the medicine I needed so I'm up and running again. Praise the Lord!
Today there are 66 Days Until Christmas! It's always good to be 'in the know'. I like to know exactly how much time I have to get those cards and gifts ready. Last minute things never really turn out well and it seems they are always way more expensive. This year I want to try to be ready.
Well, I am in the middle of a good book. It's #2 in a series. The first book is called: THE TROUBLE WITH TULIP the second book in the series (I'm reading this one now) is called: BLIND DATES CAN BE MURDER They are equally wonderful. A very good author.
Her name is: MINDY STARNS CLARK. She has more books but I'm not familiar with those. These two I do highly recommend. They are part of a series called 'Smart Chick Mystery' stories. These books are about a woman named Jo Tulip. She does a newspaper column about helpful household hints. It used to be her grandmother's column and she'd help her with it, after grandma died she took it over. She pretty much has handy advice for every situation. The first book talks about a situation of the death of an elderly neighbor lady and it's all about the mystery surrounding that. (It was one of my favorite all time reads.) This one talks about how Jo is going on a blind date but things go from bad to worse when the date drops dead and Jo finds herself smack in the middle of a murder investigation. I have no idea how this one will turn out but it's getting good.
I did start reading the book by Montel Williams, Climbing Higher, I didn't care for that one at all. I was interested in it at first because Montel is sick with MS just like me and I wanted to see how he was dealing with it. I learned one thing for sure: EVERYONE SURE DEALS WITH THEIR LIFE'S PROBLEMS IN A 100% DIFFERENT WAY! My dad called me a few days ago and said he had heard of a guy named Montel who was sick with MS too. He wanted to know if I'd ever heard of him. I said, "Yes, Dad, I have." He said, "Did you hear that he's planning a bungee jump into a volcano?" I said, " No, I didn't hear that." I told Dad that I had been reading Montel's book and how he smokes pot constantly to deal with the pain. (I personally think people shouldn't have to resort to illegal drugs. ) Then Montel said how when he's feeling pain, he likes to hit himself on the head to have a pain in a different spot to focus on instead of the pain from MS. I thought, Okay... my comment is I could go ahead and hit him in the head with his stupid book if that would make him feel better. But, now that there's this whole volcano thing happening , I think a way better idea is for him to just throw the book into the volcano since he'll be up there anyway. I don't know. These are just my thoughts now. I really don't think bungee jumping into a volcano will help his MS. I could be wrong. Like I said before, He is just dealing with his stuff in a different way. Personally, I take the calmer road.
A really good CD that I'm totally interested in is THREE WOODEN CROSSES It's Christian music sung by pretty much country singers. There's Randy Travis, Lee Ann Wommack, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, I believe Amy Grant, LeeAnn Rhymes... A bunch of others. You should check this one out.
In the next couple of days, on e-Bay, mrbrownsbooks will be having more books for sale on there. I'm not sure of the titles, but I will personally pick some good ones, for those that are interested. I'm gonna say goodnight now, just remember: The Lord Jesus loves you & He's coming back soon. Please make sure that you are ready for Him. He could come at any time. Then it will be time for us to go home! With love-Missygirl*

Hello Friends! First off, I need to let you know some information about me. For 10 years now, I've been sick with Multiple Sclerosis. It's a very harsh and unforgiving disease. Every day is different for me. Some days I feel Okay, other days just completely rotten. Sometimes the rotten days drag on for awhile. That's what has happened to me lately. Good news is, right now, this moment, I'm good; And I'm here with you! Praise the Lord. All Glory to Him. Well today I wanted to give you the countdown to Christmas: 75 DAYS!!!! It's such a beautiful time of year, I'm ready for it. My husband chopped up a huge supply of firewood, so it can go ahead and snow.
Colorado is such a beautiful state. It's just gorgeous here, throughout all of the different seasons. Well,I have for you today a recipe that I think is just delicious:
Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies (Makes about 8 dozen 2" cookies)
Ingredients: 2 1/4 cups Flour, 1 tsp. Baking Soda, 1 tsp. Salt, 1 cup softened Butter or Margarine, 3/4 cup Sugar, 3/4 cup Brown Sugar-(packed), 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract, 2 Eggs, 2 cups(12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup chopped Walnuts*
Pre-Heat Oven To 375. In Small Bowl, Mix together Flour, Baking Soda & Salt. In Large Bowl, Combine Butter, Sugars and Vanilla. Mix until Creamy. Beat in Eggs. Little by Little add dry Ingredients. Mix Well. Stir in Chocolate Chips and Nuts. Drop By teaspoonfuls onto Ungreased Cookie Sheets, Bake in 375 oven for 8 minutes or Until Lightly Browned. -Enjoy*(This Recipe is Tried and True.)
I read a saying that I liked, and posted it on my fridge with a magnet. I want to share it with you. It goes like this: "TO ACT WITHOUT CLEAR UNDERSTANDING, TO FORM HABITS WITHOUT INVESTIGATION, TO FOLLOW A PATH ALL ONE'S LIFE WITHOUT KNOWING WHERE IT REALLY LEADS, SUCH IS THE BEHAVIOR OF THE MULTITUDE."-Menclus
I really liked that saying. I think it's profound. So I had told you before that I would let you know of any good books I read and I just finished one that I think you might like, especially to share with your kids. Older kids, pre-teen, because it is a tad scary and I would think it just isn't appropriate at all for the wee ones. This would be a really good book to have your child read aloud to you maybe while you are making dinner(or,Grandma's chocolate chip cookies), or doing laundry, dishes, whatever. But seriously, even if your child reads at least 1 chapter out-loud to you every day, the difference in their reading will be substantial! They need to read what holds their interest and I think this book really will. It's called CORALINE by Neil Gaiman /It's about a girl whose new house has a door inside that is always locked, when she gets ahold of the key to it, the other side of the door is a brick wall. Until the day she unlocks the door again and finds a passage way instead of the brick wall, and goes down that path. She enters a house that looks exactly like hers, yet better, it seems. But only at first. Well, I won't tell you more because I don't want to ruin it for you. Again, The Book is: CORALINE by Neil Gaiman.
I want you to know that a wonderful place to purchase books, at a very great price is: Amazon.com or else e-Bay also has books for sell. My husband sells books sometimes on e-Bay. If you click on where it says 'Community', you could write in this user name to see his books that are for sale: mrbrownsbooks
There are none for sale today. He takes care of me and when I'm sick it doesn't leave him much time to work on the e-Bay part of his life. Soon there will be books for sale again. I'll let you know. But, Not the Coraline book. That's in my own personal library. I won't sell that one. Well, I want you to have a glorious Day! I'll try to get back to you as soon as I'm able. I have a Doctor's appointment in the morning. Please Pray for me. -Please remember to love your family. God picked them out especially for you.-Missygirl*
